Nicosia: A joint Cyprus-Greece Search and Rescue exercise, under the name “SALAMIS-02/25”, was conducted on Friday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) of Cyprus noted in a press release that the exercise took place within the Search and Rescue Region of the Republic of Cyprus. It involved the participation of the Hellenic Navy Frigate ‘ADRIAS’, a helicopter from the 460 Search and Rescue Squadron of the National Guard, and a specialized nurse from the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services Organization.
The press release added that the exercise was coordinated by the Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Center in cooperation with the Hellenic Navy General Staff. This was done within the framework of the Bilateral Agreement on Search and Rescue between Cyprus and Greece. The provisions of this agreement are applied in such exercises, with the aim of enhancing the quality of Search and Rescue services in the Eastern Mediterranean.
