Cyprus and Estonia Connect for Cross-Border Electronic Health Services

Nicosia:Cyprus has initiated an interconnection with Estonia to enhance cross-border electronic health services, broadening the scope of digital healthcare services accessible to citizens in both nations.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the National eHealth Authority (NeHA) of Cyprus announced its ongoing efforts to expand its involvement in the European MyHealth@EU infrastructure. This initiative aims to bolster the secure exchange of health data and improve access to electronic health services across national boundaries.

With this new connection, citizens of Cyprus and Estonia can utilize their electronic prescriptions when visiting the other country, ensuring they have access to necessary medications. Additionally, the two countries are exchanging Patient Summaries, allowing healthcare professionals to access crucial information such as medication, allergies, and diagnoses, which are essential for providing safe and effective treatment.

The NeHA highlighted that this capability is particularly beneficial for individuals who travel, work, or temporarily reside in another European country and might require medical attention. The interconnection with Estonia marks a significant advancement in Cyprus' efforts to expand its European network through MyHealth@EU.

The National eHealth Authority emphasized its commitment to linking Cyprus with more European Union Member States, aiming to further develop cross-border electronic health services.
