Cyprus and EIB sign new finance contracts, announcing €362 million for transport and businesses

The Republic of Cyprus and the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed Friday two new Finance Contracts leading to €362 million of total new financing for priority transport investment and lending to businesses affected by Covid-19, including first financing from the EIB`s European Guarantee Fund, as well as new financing for SMEs through the Cyprus Entrepreneurship Fund.

President of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer, Chief Executive of the European Investment Fund Alain Godard, visited Cyprus and joined Minister of Finance Constantinos Petrides, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Yiannis Karousos and Hellenic Bank CEO Phivos Stasopoulos, in a signing ceremony at the Ministry of Finance.

The EIB and EIF also agreed new financing available for most sectors of the Cypriot economy, including tourism, agriculture, manufacturing and services
