Nicosia:The share of people aged 16 and over who consumed alcohol daily in Cyprus was 1.9% in 2025, which is lower than the EU average of 4.8%, according to recently published data.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Eurostat's report revealed that 16.1% of the population in Cyprus consumed alcohol weekly, while 22.1% did so monthly. These figures compare to 19.2% and 21.8%, respectively, across the European Union.

The report also indicated that 20.7% of individuals aged 16 and over in the EU consumed alcohol less often than once a month, and 33.5% had either never consumed alcohol or had not done so during 2025.

Additionally, Eurostat noted that alcohol consumption was more prevalent among men in the EU than women, whether on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Specifically, 56.5% of men reported consuming alcohol at least once a month, compared to 35.9% of women.
