Cyprus Achieves Lowest Rate of Overcrowded Housing for Young People in EU

Nicosia:Cyprus recorded the lowest percentage of young people aged 15 to 29 living in overcrowded housing in the European Union in 2025, with a rate of 3.5%. This is significantly lower than the EU's average of 26.9%.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the data published by Eurostat also reveals that the overall overcrowding rate for the total population in Cyprus was 2.2%.

In comparison, the share of young people living in overcrowded conditions across the EU was 10.1 percentage points higher than the total population's rate, which stood at 16.8%.

Following Cyprus, Ireland and Malta recorded the next lowest rates among young people at 7.4% and 7.7%, respectively. Conversely, Romania had the highest rate, with 60.4% of young people living in overcrowded housing, followed by Latvia at 54.9% and Bulgaria at 52.8%.
