Nicosia:Industrial production in July recorded an annual increase of 1.5%. The Statistical Service of Cyprus reported that the Industrial Production Index reached 129.2 units (base 2021=100) in July 2026, marking a 1.5% rise compared to the same month in 2025.
According to Cyprus News Agency, from January to July 2026, the index showed an increase of 1.6% over the same period in the previous year. The manufacturing sector experienced a 1.5% increase compared to July 2025. Notable growth was also seen in water supply and materials recovery (+8.2%) and mining and quarrying (+6.0%). Conversely, the electricity supply sector saw a decline of 1.1%.
Within the manufacturing sector, the most significant increases compared to July 2025 were in the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products (+6.0%), wood and products of wood and cork, excluding furniture (+5.1%), furniture, other manufacturing, and repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+3.8%), and basic metals and fabricated metal products (+3.7%).
Negative changes were noted in the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles and other transport equipment (-6.8%), paper and paper products and printing (-4.7%), and refined petroleum products, chemicals and chemical products, and pharmaceutical products and preparations (-2.9%).
Comparing the period from January to July 2026 with the same period in 2025, the most substantial positive changes occurred in water collection, treatment, and supply (+11.7%), the manufacturing of basic metals and fabricated metal products (+5.7%), and wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture (+4.8%).
The largest negative changes in production for the January to July period were in materials recovery (-6.6%) and the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles, and other transport equipment (-5.5%).
