Cypriot President Acknowledges Greek Influence on Internal Governance

Athens: President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, expressed gratitude for the valuable lessons learned from Greece’s governance strategies during a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion. President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of the cooperation between Cyprus and Greece, highlighting the adoption of Greek governance practices in Cyprus.

According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides acknowledged the significant initiatives undertaken by the Greek government and expressed appreciation for the shared knowledge that is being implemented in Cyprus. He noted the strategic timing of the meeting, as Cyprus is set to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 50 days. The President highlighted the crucial roles both Cyprus and Greece will play in enhancing the European Union’s strategic autonomy and its relations with the Middle East.

Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis warmly welcomed President Christodoulides and the Cypriot delegation, underscoring the importance of coordinated governmental efforts. He noted the significance of Cyprus’s upcoming EU Presidency in the first half of 2026 and expressed eagerness to discuss key issues with the Cypriot leadership. The meeting underscored the strong bilateral relationship and mutual support between the two nations.
