Brussels: European Commission Executive Vice-President Raffaele Fitto conveyed the Commission's condolences over the passenger ferry accident in Kyreneia, in the Turkish-occupied north of Cyprus, in a post on social media.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Fitto expressed the European Commission's condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the ferry accident. He noted the Commission's solidarity with the affected families and all those involved in the rescue operations during this challenging time.
A Commission spokesperson further stated that the Commission is saddened by the tragic event and offered condolences to those who have lost loved ones. The EU executive also emphasized its readiness to provide assistance as appropriate.
