Brussels: Tomorrow in Brussels, European Commissioners Costas Kadis and Glenn Micallef will host the Youth Policy Dialogue titled "How to make Arctic youth participation more inclusive." This event is part of the ongoing efforts by the European Commission to incorporate the voices of young people into EU policymaking.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the dialogue will include ten young participants selected through the EU-funded project Youth Together for Arctic Futures. These participants will discuss their experiences and provide insights on how the EU can enhance the inclusive participation of Arctic youth in decision-making processes. Additionally, the Commissioners will seek opinions from the participants on the upcoming Blue Generational Renewal Strategy, a key initiative aimed at fostering careers in the maritime sectors.
The event is organized within the framework of the EU Arctic Forum and the Arctic Youth and Indigenous Peoples' Dialogues, which are scheduled for 1-2 September. These dialogues are critical as the EU updates its Arctic policy, taking into account the evolving geopolitical, economic, and environmental landscape. The forum was inaugurated by Commissioners Jozef Skela and Costas Kadis, marking a significant moment for the EU's engagement in the Arctic region.
A cornerstone of the EU Arctic policy, these dialogues bring together various stakeholders to discuss the EU's future role in the Arctic. The European Commission is committed to integrating the perspectives of young people into its policymaking processes, a priority outlined in President von der Leyen's Political Guidelines for 2024-2029.
