Cypriot MPs to take part in Inaugural Session of the Women Parliamentary Forum of PAM

A delegation of the Cyprus Parliament will participate in the Inaugural Session of the Women Parliamentary Forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of Mediterranean (PAM) in Lisbon.

According to a press release by the Parliament, MPs Andreas Passiourtidis, Rita Theodorou Superman and Christos Orfanidis, members of the Cypriot delegation to PAM will participate to the Assembly to take place on 4 and 5 July.

The Inaugural Session will approve the statutory documents of the Women Parliamentary Forum, which set out its main objectives, namely the promotion of gender equality, the establishment of women’s rights as fundamental human rights and ensuring the integration of gender dimension in all policy areas.

Among the topics of concern are the protection of refugee women in the Mediterranean area, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on gender equality, women’s equal access to the labour market and power structures, and the role of young people in achieving gender equality.
