Cypriot hurdles champion Milan Trajkovic to take part in four main sports events in the summer

Cypriot hurdles champion, Milan Trajkovic, will take part in four main sports events this summer and is after the finals and all medals possible, he told CNA.

Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency, the Cyprus Record holder of 110m Hurdles will participate in the Cyprus International Athletics Meeting in Limassol which is part of the International Association of Athletics Federation.

Also participating in the 110m hurdles will be Spanish Orlando Ortena, Greece’s Champion Costas Douvalides and other sports’ figures.

Trajkovic urged the people to attend the event at Tsirio Stadium and see the athletes’ competing.

“This meeting is a chance for people to see great athletes, see great races and I am sure the people will fall in love with athletics even further,” Trajkovic added.

He said the 110m race will be a strong one, adding “it is the first time we are organising this event” adding that high standard international athletes will be competing.

After the Limassol athletics, Trajkovic said he will rest and then resume training for the events ahead.

He said next will be the “Mediterranean Games followed by the World Athletics Championships, the Commonwealth Games and then the European Games. Due to COVID-19, a lot of these games had been cancelled and were rescheduled for his summer, making 2022 a demanding year. I hope we are well and to do our best”, he added.

Asked what he is after, Trajkovic said he is after all finals and medals. It is not easy, it’s very difficult as I am over the age of 30”, he said, adding that he has a few more years to be able to contribute to sports.

According to KOES, the Amateur Athletic Association of Cyprus, Milan Trajkovic belongs in the group of world elite athletes with high performances. The highlight of his career was in March 2019 when he became the first ever athlete from Cyprus to win a gold medal in European Indoor Championships history.

He is also an Olympic Games finalist in the Rio Games as well as a World Championships finalist.

His goal in the “Cyprus International Athletics Meeting” is to rank first and if conditions allow, to run under 13.32, which is the entry mark for the World Athletics Championships in Oregon in July. His Pancyprian record in the 110m hurdles is 13.25.
