Commissioner Photiou receives Ambassador of Armenia, diaspora issues and bilateral ties on agenda

New Ambassador of Armenia to Cyprus Tigran Mkrtchyan was received Thursday by Presidential Commissioner Photis Photiou with whom he discussed diaspora issues and bilateral ties.

A press release says that both men noted the long-lasting brotherly ties between the two countries which face the same challenges and have common history and struggles for justice.

They both noted the bilateral cooperation in diaspora issues and the bilateral memorandum of cooperation as well as the tripartite cooperation between Cyprus, Armenia and Greece and the memorandum signed recently in Patra, Greece.

Photiou underlined the role of the diaspora organizations and the fact that they can promote mutual principles and values in important decision-making centers. He also spoke of the role of the young generations and the Armenian community in Cyprus and the cooperation established with the liaison of the Armenian representative in the Parliament and other bodies in education, church etc.
