Commissioner for Gender Equality addresses WAGGGS Conference in Nicosia

The role of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) was praised by Commissioner for Gender Equality Josie Christodoulou who addressed the Conference of WAGGGS taking place in Nicosia. She made special reference to the importance of the empowerment of girls and young women in 153 countries of the world where the Association is present. A press release of the Girl Guides Association of Cyprus says that the Commissioner addressed the delegates from over 110 countries at the closing of the Conference’s works hosted at the European University of Cyprus in Nicosia. Christodoulou underlined that the empowerment of women is an important tool for democracy. The 38th WAGGGS World Congress was hosted in Cyprus by the Girl Guides Association. Social events were organized in the Ancient Theater of Kourion, the Kykkos Metochion Gardens and Liberty Square. The participants expressed their gratitude to the Cypriot Guides Association for the excellent organization and warm hospitality.
