Nicosia: The business investment rate in Cyprus stood at 16.01% in 2024, according to data published by Eurostat on Thursday, marking a decrease compared with 18.26% in 2023.
According to Cyprus News Agency, at the same time, compared with levels a decade ago, an increase is observed, as the rate remains higher than the 14.88% recorded in 2015.
Based on the available data for 2024, Cyprus is among the European Union Member States with the lowest levels of business investment. A similar rate is recorded in Ireland (16.0%), while a lower figure is observed in Luxembourg (15.9%). The Netherlands (16.7%) and Malta (16.8%) follow.
By contrast, the highest business investment rates in the EU for 2024 were recorded in Hungary (28.4%), Croatia (28.3%), Czechia (27.6%), Belgium (27.0%) and Sweden (26.9%).
At European Union level, the business investment rate reached 21.8% in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking the lowest level since the third quarter of 2015.
