Inflation in Cyprus Matches Euro Area Average at 3% in April

Nicosia: Annual inflation in Cyprus stood at 3.0% in April 2026, fully aligning with the euro area average, according to a flash estimate published on Thursday by Eurostat. Across the euro area, inflation rose to 3.0% from 2.6% in March, confirming a renewed upward pressure on consumer prices.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Cyprus has now moved exactly in line with the average, following lower readings in previous months, when inflation stood at 1.5% in March. On a monthly basis, inflation in Cyprus recorded a sharp increase of 2.2%, one of the highest rises among member states.

The main driver of the increase at euro area level was energy, with an annual growth rate of 10.9% in April compared to 5.1% in March. This was followed by services at 3.0%, food, alcohol and tobacco at 2.5%, and non-energy industrial goods at 0.8%.

Compared with other countries, Cyprus is close to the European average, while states such as Greece with inflation at 4.6%, Lithuania at 4.9%, and Croatia at 5.4% are recording higher inflation levels.
