Strovolos:A new day centre for people with autism is set to be constructed in the parish of Agios Dimitrios, Strovolos, with a capacity to support up to 30 people and a total area of approximately 740 square meters.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Nikos Christodoulides announced the project during an event at the Presidential Palace. The Council of Ministers approved the construction on November 19, 2025, along with a donation of two million euros from Eurobank, which will also handle the centre's design, construction, and supervision.
Eurobank's contribution includes organizing the architectural competition and financing the related studies and infrastructure, ensuring the centre is fully operational upon completion. The state will provide the land, manage the building requirements, and oversee the operation and maintenance once the centre is built.
President Christodoulides expressed gratitude to Eurobank and the Selection Committee for their efforts. He also mentioned the construction of a model autism centre in Famagusta, valued at 4.5 million euros, which is already underway.
Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Tina Pavlou, highlighted the need for such facilities to prevent social isolation and support families. The new centre will cater to individuals over 22, offering specialized programs for empowerment and social integration.
