Agriculture Minister travels to Brussels for EU Council of Agriculture Ministers

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Petros Xenophontos, will travel to Brussels on Monday to participate in the proceedings of the Council of Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries of the European Union (EU), a press release issued by the Ministry reads.

It is pointed out that the Council will discuss the situation formed in the agricultural markets by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the need to introduce short and medium-term measures to address the prolonged instability in the EU agricultural market.

The extreme weather conditions in Portugal, France, Italy and Spain and their impact on agricultural production will also be discussed.

In the context of the Council, the Minister will attend an informal working lunch, in the presence of the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine, Mykola Solskyi, on the state of agricultural markets and how EU Member States could contribute to Ukraine in relation to the trade and production of agricultural products.
