Nicosia: A yellow warning for rain and storms issued yesterday by the Meteorological Department remains in effect today, Saturday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the disturbance affecting the island with rain and isolated thunderstorms came into effect from 10 p.m. on Friday until 5 p.m. on Saturday.
"A combination of rain and isolated thunderstorms will affect the island at intervals, initially in the west and gradually spreading to the rest of the island. Hail may fall during thunderstorms, while winds will change and strengthen. The intensity of the rain is likely to vary locally between 35 and 55 millimeters per hour," according to the Meteorological Department.
