The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures on Saturday.
According to a press release by the Department, the warning is valid between 1300-1600 on Saturday. It says that the maximum temperature will rise to around 40 degrees inland and to around 32 over the Troodos highest peaks.
Meanwhile, Cyprus` Forests Department has announced that a “red alert” warning for risk of fire will continue to be in effect on Saturday urging the public to refrain from activities that may cause fire and to cooperate with the authorities.
According to the announcement, whoever sees smoke or fire inside or near forests should contact the nearest Forest Station or call the Forestry Department at 1407 or the Fire Service at 112.
