The Turnover Value Index of Wholesale Trade during the first quarter of 2023 recorded an increase of 11.1% compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, according to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on Thursday. During the same quarter, the Turnover Value Index of Sales and Repair of Motor Vehicles recorded an increase of 19.9% compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The sale of motor vehicles experienced a growth of 24.4% compared to the same period last year, while vehicle maintenance and repair increased by 10.2%. Additionally, the sale of parts and accessories for motor vehicles saw a rise of 15.3%, and the sale, maintenance, and repair of motorcycles and their respective parts and accessories increased by 26.5%. Wholesale trade on a fee or contract basis witnessed a notable increase of 24.3%, while wholesale trade of unprocessed agricultural raw materials and live animals grew by 4.4%. In terms of wholesale trade of food, beverages, and tobacco, a notable increase of 15.7% was observed, while wholesale trade of household goods increased by 15.2%. Furthermore, wholesale trade of information and communication equipment experienced a growth of 16.6%, and wholesale trade of other machinery, equipment, and supplies increased by 11.6%.
