Weather Forecast Indicates Calm Seas Around Cyprus

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, effective from noon on January 28, 2025, until noon the following day. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards and indicates that weak high pressure is influencing the region, resulting in mainly fine weather and good visibility. The atmospheric pressure at the time of issue was recorded at 1023 hPa, with sea surface temperatures reaching 19°C. No warnings have been issued for the period in question.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast details specific wind patterns and sea conditions for different coastal regions. On the West Coast, winds in the afternoon are expected to be from the southeast at 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, with local variations from the northwest. The state of the sea will range from smooth to slight. During the night, winds will shift to northeast to east at a force of 3, maintaining smooth to slight sea conditions. By morning, wind directions will vary between northeast to southeast at a force of 3, occasionally reaching 3 to 4 locally, with similar sea conditions.

For the South Coast, afternoon winds will be northeast to east, reaching 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, with some local areas experiencing force 4. The sea state will be smooth to slight, with some areas becoming slightly rougher. Nighttime winds will transition from northwest to northeast at a force of 3, with occasional local shifts to northeast at 3 to 4, and the sea will remain smooth to slightly rough. By morning, northeast to east winds will prevail at 3 to 4, with similar sea conditions.

On the East Coast, the forecast predicts afternoon winds from the northeast at forces 3 to 4, occasionally reaching 4, with the sea state being slight. During the night, winds are expected to be north to northeast at forces 3 to 4, maintaining a slight sea condition. By morning, northeast to east winds will continue at 3 to 4, occasionally reaching 4, with sea conditions remaining slight.

For the North Coast, afternoon winds will be north to northeast at 3 to 4, with some local areas experiencing force 4, and sea conditions ranging from smooth to slight, with some local areas becoming slightly rough. During the night, winds will shift from northeast to southeast at a force of 3, with offshore areas experiencing northeast winds at 3 to 4. The sea will remain smooth to slightly rough, with offshore conditions being slightly rough. By morning, northeast to southeast winds will continue at a force of 3, with offshore areas occasionally experiencing northeast winds at 3 to 4, with similar sea conditions.
