Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, covering an 8-kilometer stretch seawards, valid from 1800 on July 21, 2026, until 1800 on July 22, 2026. The forecast indicates that seasonal low pressure is impacting the region, resulting in mainly fine weather with increased low cloud coverage overnight and during the morning. There is a risk of local mist and fog patches, particularly over the southern and eastern coasts.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1005 hPa. Visibility is expected to remain good but may become moderate to poor in misty conditions, and very poor in fog. The sea surface temperature is currently 28°C, and no warnings have been issued for the area.
The forecast specifies varying wind patterns across different coasts. On the West Coast, winds will shift from Northwest to North at night, later transitioning to Southwest to Northwest during the morning and West to Northwest by afternoon. The sea state will vary from smooth to slight, with a potential increase to slight conditions later in the afternoon.
For the South Coast, winds will initially be Southwest to Northwest at night, changing to variable directions by morning, and eventually becoming Southwest to West in the afternoon. Similarly, the sea state will remain smooth to slight throughout the period.
The East Coast will experience consistent wind patterns, starting with Southwest to Northwest winds at night and shifting to Southeast to Southwest by morning and South to Southwest in the afternoon. Sea conditions will consistently be smooth to slight.
Finally, on the North Coast, winds will transition from South to Southwest at night to Southeast to Southwest near the coast, eventually becoming West to Northwest by morning and continuing as Southwest to Northwest in the afternoon. The sea state will remain smooth to slight, with local variations to slight conditions.
