Weather Forecast for Cyprus Coastal Waters Reveals Stable Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its latest forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, covering a period from the evening of March 2, 2026, until the same time on March 3, 2026. The forecast indicates a weak high-pressure system currently influencing the area, resulting in predominantly stable weather conditions with occasional increases in cloud coverage.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast specifies good visibility and a sea surface temperature of 18°C. The report highlights that no warnings have been issued for this period. The winds, measured on the Beaufort scale, are expected to vary across different coastal areas and times of the day.

For the west coast, the night will bring north to northeast winds at force 3, resulting in smooth to slight sea conditions. By morning, the wind direction will shift to southwest to northwest at the same force, maintaining smooth to slight sea conditions. In the afternoon, winds will increase to force 3 to 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5, with the sea remaining smooth to slight, although slight conditions may be experienced locally.

The south coast will experience northwest to north winds at force 3 during the night, with smooth to slight sea states. In the morning, the wind will transition to northwest to northeast and later to southwest to northwest, maintaining similar sea conditions. By afternoon, the wind direction will shift to southwest to west at force 3 to 4, with local areas experiencing forces up to 5, leading to smooth to slight sea conditions, with some areas experiencing slight conditions.

The east coast is expected to have northwest to north winds at force 3 during the night, with smooth to slight sea conditions. Morning winds will gradually shift from northwest to northeast, then southeast to southwest, remaining at force 3. In the afternoon, the winds will change to south to southwest at force 3 to 4, with local areas experiencing force 4, yet the sea will stay smooth to slight.

For the north coast, southeast to south winds at force 3 will be present during the night, resulting in smooth to slight sea conditions. Morning winds will switch to southwest to northwest at the same force. In the afternoon, the wind will adjust to west to northwest at force 3 to 4, occasionally reaching force 4 in local areas, with the sea remaining smooth to slight, with local slight conditions.
