Weak High Pressure Brings Calm Seas to Cyprus Waters

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, indicating that weak high pressure is influencing the region. This weather pattern will result in mainly fine conditions, although there will be periods of locally increased low cloud coverage, particularly over the western and northern parts of the island.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1018 hPa. The sea surface temperature is expected to remain steady at 19°C, with visibility predicted to be good throughout the forecast period. Importantly, no weather warnings have been issued for the area.

The forecast details varying wind conditions and sea states across different coasts of Cyprus. On the west coast, winds will vary from northwest to northeast, shifting to southeast to southwest in the afternoon, with a slight increase in intensity at night. The state of the sea will range from smooth to slight.

Similar conditions are expected on the south coast, with morning winds from northwest to northeast and a transition to northeast to southeast by night. The sea state will remain mostly smooth to slight, with localized slight conditions.

On the east coast, a shift from west to northwest winds in the morning to northeast to east winds by night is expected, with the sea state slightly rougher offshore. Meanwhile, the north coast will experience winds from southeast to southwest in the morning, transitioning to east to southeast by night, with smooth to slight sea states, though slightly rougher offshore.
