Weak High Pressure Brings Calm Seas to Cyprus

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has announced the forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, indicating a period of weak high pressure affecting the region. The weather is expected to remain mainly fine, with good visibility and a sea surface temperature of 19°C. No warnings have been issued for the forecast period, which covers the time from noon on January 18, 2025, to noon on January 19, 2025.

According to Cyprus News Agency, winds across Cyprus’s coastal areas are expected to vary, with the Beaufort scale indicating generally light breezes. On the west coast, winds will range from west to northwest in the afternoon, shifting to northwest and north during the night, and later becoming variable in the morning. The state of the sea is predicted to be slight, gradually becoming smooth in some areas.

On the south coast, southwest to west winds will dominate in the afternoon, turning northwest to north at night, with conditions remaining smooth to slight. The morning will see a shift to variable winds, gradually moving southwest to west, with the sea continuing to be smooth to slight.

The east coast will experience west to northwest winds, occasionally shifting to south or southwest in the afternoon. By night, the winds will remain west to northwest, and in the morning, they will transition from southwest to northwest and later to south to southwest. The sea conditions will similarly be smooth to slight.

For the north coast, northwest winds are forecasted for the afternoon, occasionally increasing in intensity. At night, winds will shift from southeast to south, with initial northwest breezes diminishing. By morning, southeast to southwest winds will prevail, with the sea remaining smooth to slight throughout.
