Nicosia: The standardised death rate from viral hepatitis in Cyprus stood at 0.21 deaths per 100,000 people in 2023, according to data published on Tuesday by Eurostat.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the viral hepatitis mortality rate in the European Union was 0.64 deaths per 100,000 people in 2023. The data highlights that Cyprus has a lower death rate from viral hepatitis compared to the EU average.
Eurostat's findings also revealed that the highest standardised death rates were recorded in Italy, with 1.62 deaths per 100,000 people, followed by Latvia with 1.54 and Austria with 1.02. Conversely, the lowest rates were recorded in Luxembourg, where no deaths from hepatitis were reported in 2023, Finland with 0.07 and Slovenia with 0.13.
