Nicosia: The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, along with the Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, reviewed the renovation progress at the “Filoxenia” Conference Centre and the Higher Hotel Institute of Cyprus (HHIC) building during their visit on Monday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Ministry of Transport shared on X that the visit aimed to evaluate the advancements of the renovation works and ensure they align with the schedules in preparation for Cyprus’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026.
The ‘Filoxenia’ Conference Centre is undergoing renovations to host sessions of the Informal Ministerial Councils during the Cyprus Presidency. Concurrently, the HHIC building is also being renovated to serve as a Press Centre, supporting the needs of journalists and media personnel.
The Ministry emphasized that these interventions are designed to establish modern and functional infrastructure essential for the Cyprus EU Presidency. The completion of these projects relies heavily on the collaboration of all stakeholders involved.
