US Secretary discusses with President Christodoulides Gaza aid corridor duirng Cyprus stopover

The crisis in the Middle East and the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus to create a maritime corridor of sustained flow of humanitarian aid from Cyprus to civilians in Gaza, were the main topics discussed on Sunday between the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides. The visit was not disclosed publicly. Blinken, who was en route to Turkey after meetings in Israel, Jordan and the West Bank, landed in Larnaca airport in the afternoon. According to a post by the Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, on the platform X, the President of the Republic held a meeting today with the US Secretary of State, as part of Blinken’s contacts in the region. The main topic of discussion at the meeting were “the unfolding crisis in our region and the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus regarding the creation of a maritime humanitarian corridor for the provision of humanitarian aid through Cyprus with the final destination being Gaza”, the Governor Spokesman said in his post in Greek.
