US police are looking for a suspect who shot and injured nine people during a mass shooting on Sunday morning at a nightclub in downtown Cleveland, Ohio state, a senior security official said.
No one was killed in the shooting, said Wayne Drummond, chief of the Cleveland Division of Police.
The unknown shooter who is still at large opened fire on a crowd of people in the city’s Warehouse District at 2.25 a.m. local time (06:25 GMT).
Police are following leads and vowing to ‘continue to work extremely hard to try to find’ the person responsible, he added.
Before the incident, there was “no indication” to the investigators that anything significant had happened, the police said, describing the suspect as a Black man dressed in dark clothing.
Mass shootings in the US reached a record high in the first half of the year, with over 330 mass shootings recorded, according to data collected by the Gun Violence Archive.
