The updated bivalent vaccines for subvariants BA.1, BA.4 and BA.5 of the Omicron variant are available at the vaccination centers, the Ministry of Health said in a statement on Monday.
The booster dose is recommended for persons aged 12 years and older, provided that a period of five months has passed since receiving the last dose of the vaccine. The booster dose is optional.
Comirnaty vaccine (Pfizer) is also recommended as a primary vaccination in children aged 6 months to 4 years for the original strain of the virus. The Ministry says that the availability of the Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine will be announced within the next few days.
Citizens can get the vaccine at walk-in vaccination centers in all districts and they need to show an identification document and a vaccination card. Health professionals need to show a license to practice the profession and immunodeficient and immunosuppressed patients, as well as people with chronic severe disease or obesity must show a medical Certificate.
Vaccination with a booster dose is recommended after 3 months have passed since the 1st positive test against the disease.
In order to carry out vaccination, an identification document (identity card, passport) and a vaccination card must be shown.
The operating hours at vaccination centers in Nicosia (State Fair), Larnaca (Old Hospital), Limassol (Linopetra Health Center), Paphos (Paphos General Hospital), Famagusta ( Famagusta Health Center) are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 15:00 to 17:30 on Wednesday. Pfizer/BioNTech is administered throughout the week, Moderna on Tuesday and Thursday and Johnson & Johnson on Friday.
Kyperounta center is open 8:30 to 14:30 Monday, Wednesday, Friday and 15:00 to 17:30 on Wednesday. Pfizer/BioNTech is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson by phone appointment.
In Polis Chrysochous Hospital the vaccination center is open every Tuesday from 9:30am – 1:30pm. Pfizer/BioNTech is administered on Tuesdays and Moderna, Johnson & Johnson by phone appointment.
