Upcoming Visit to India is Highly Significant, President Christodoulides Says

Nicosia: The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, stated that his upcoming visit to India in May holds substantial importance, highlighting that businesses from India are already investing in Cyprus. He also mentioned that he will be accompanied by ministers and a business delegation during his visit.

According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides emphasized the significance of the invitation extended by the Prime Minister of India, considering it a notably important development. He noted that the Indian Premier's visit to Cyprus led to an official invitation to India within a year. The visit will encompass both New Delhi and Mumbai, India's business hub, and will include a business delegation, with plans to organize a business forum.

The President outlined that numerous issues will be discussed during the visit. He referenced recent announcements by the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council, who participated in India's Republic Day celebrations and announced the completion of trade agreement negotiations. In light of these developments, President Christodoulides considers this visit particularly significant.

He remarked on India's strategic approach to Cyprus as a gateway to the EU and its single market of 450 million people, following Prime Minister Modi's visit to Cyprus. The President acknowledged existing investments by Indian companies in Cyprus, reinforcing the crucial nature of this upcoming visit.
