Unstable Air Mass Brings Showers and Thunderstorms to Cyprus Sea Area

Nicosia: A weak low-pressure system and unstable air mass are set to impact the Cyprus sea area, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms anticipated tonight and into tomorrow morning. In some thunderstorms, hail may also occur.

According to Cyprus News Agency, atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issue was recorded at 1016 hPa. Visibility is expected to remain generally good but could become moderate to poor during showers. The sea surface temperature is currently 24°C. No warnings have been issued for the region.

The forecast details specific conditions across the west, south, east, and north coasts of Cyprus. Overnight, winds on the west coast are expected to blow from northwest to northeast at force 3, becoming variable, with the sea state ranging from smooth to slight. By morning, winds will shift to southeast to southwest, and then south to southwest by afternoon, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state.

Similarly, the south coast will experience northwest to northeast winds at force 3 overnight, shifting gradually to southeast to southwest by morning, and eventually southwest to west by afternoon, with a consistent smooth to slight sea state.

The east coast will also see northwest to northeast winds at force 3 overnight, with a gradual shift to north-northeast by morning, and further strengthening to force 3 to 4 by afternoon. The sea state here will remain smooth to slight.

On the north coast, southeast to southwest winds at force 3 will prevail overnight, transitioning to southwest to northwest by morning, and west to northwest by afternoon, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state throughout the period.
