Nicosia: The University of Nicosia has announced the accreditation and launch of a new English-taught joint Bachelor's degree programme called 'Science, Management and Politics in Global Health.' This innovative three-year programme is developed in collaboration with the NEOLAiA European University Alliance.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the programme offers a joint award from the University of Nicosia, the University of Ja©n in Spain, and the University of Salerno in Italy. Students will have the opportunity to spend their third year in these countries, with an additional mobility option to the … iauliai State University of Applied Sciences in Lithuania. The programme's curriculum allows students to specialise in Data Analysis for Global Health, Information and Communication in Global Health, or Management of Global Health during their third-year studies.
The Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education has accredited the programme, ensuring international recognition. It will begin in the Fall Semester of the 2026-2027 academic year. Philippos Pouyioutas, Rector of the University of Nicosia, noted that the programme combines academic excellence, international experience, and societal impact. Graduates will be prepared for careers in various sectors including international organisations, public health agencies, and NGOs, among others.
The programme marks a significant milestone for the University of Nicosia, being its 11th joint degree programme and the first developed under the NEOLAiA European University Alliance. The three-year course offers compulsory international mobility, lower tuition fees, and financial support equivalent to Erasmus+ funding, covering travel and accommodation expenses. It also includes an internship and language learning opportunities to enhance linguistic and intercultural skills.
During an online ceremony in March 2026, leaders from the partner institutions highlighted the programme's transformative potential. Virgilio D'Antonio, Rector of the University of Salerno, emphasised the programme's value in addressing global challenges through internationalisation and interdisciplinarity.
