University of Nicosia Achieves Top Rankings in Six Subject Areas

Nicosia: The University of Nicosia (UNIC) has been recognized as a leading global institution in six specific subject areas, marking a significant achievement for the university community. Professor Philippos Pouyioutas, Rector of the University, highlighted the institution's strong performance in teaching, learning, research, innovation, and societal contribution. He expressed gratitude to the entire UNIC community, including academic and administrative staff, students, and alumni. The contribution of Master's and Doctoral students, particularly in research, was noted as being especially significant for this achievement.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Professor Dimitris Drikakis, Vice President for Global Partnerships at UNIC, emphasized the university's exceptional performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Subject Rankings 2026. UNIC is the only university in Cyprus ranked in Life Sciences and holds top positions in Business and Economics, Education Studies, Psychology, and Social Sciences across Cyprus. The university has strengthened its comparative standing in Cyprus, Greece, and the European Union, reflecting its commitment to research excellence and international collaboration.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) is a prominent university classification system globally, built on five decades of expertise and millions of individual data points. The subject rankings awarded to UNIC are part of a series of distinctions from Times Higher Education, which also includes ranking the University among the Top 501-600 universities worldwide in its flagship World University Rankings for 2026.
