University of Cyprus to Host Training on Intersectionality, Sexuality, and Gender

Nicosia: The University of Cyprus has announced an upcoming training session titled ‘Storytelling as Pharmakon in Premodernity and Beyond: Training the New Generation of Researchers in Health Humanities’ (StoryPharm), focusing on intersectionality, sexuality, and gender. Scheduled for November 25-27, 2025, this event will feature a series of seminars, workshops, reading groups, and lectures.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the training is part of the MSCA-DN project StoryPharm and is designed to be inclusive, welcoming PhD candidates from outside the project as well as other interested individuals. StoryPharm, funded with £5.1 million through the Horizon Europe competitive program Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions – Doctoral Networks, is a collaborative effort involving several universities across Europe. The consortium includes the University of Cyprus, the University of Bamberg, the University of Lund, the University of Salerno, and the University of Cardiff. Additionally, it partners with various non-academic entities including pharmaceutical companies and cultural institutions.

The project aims to provide 19 doctoral fellowships that offer comprehensive training, equipping fellows with essential research and transferable skills. This initiative prepares participants for successful careers in research and other fields such as health, education, and culture.
