Nicosia: The University of Cyprus continues to uphold its global academic reputation as it is ranked 452nd in the QS World University Rankings 2026, marking its consistent presence among top international institutions for the sixth consecutive year.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the QS World University Rankings are a prominent benchmark in higher education evaluation, alongside the Times Higher Education and the Academic Ranking of World Universities. These rankings employ rigorous criteria, including academic and employer reputation, research impact, international outlook, and teaching quality. The University of Cyprus’s inclusion in all three major global rankings underscores its sustained excellence in research and education, as well as its expanding international profile.
The 2026 QS edition introduces methodological updates to enhance the assessment of universities worldwide. The newly added ‘International Student Diversity’ metric broadens the evaluation of international student ratio by accounting for both the proportion and diversity of nationalities represented. This aims to present a more inclusive perspective of global campus environments. The evaluation now includes data from an expanded research database covering over 8,000 institutions, providing broader global coverage.
The University of Cyprus continues to be the highest-ranked institution in Cyprus, achieving the country’s strongest performance across all measured indicators.
