Nicosia: The University of Cyprus has announced an opening for a full-time position as a Special Scientist – Research (Software Developer) in its Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) research laboratory. This role involves engaging in EU-funded projects, including Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships, Erasmus+ Alliances, AAL, and Horizon Europe projects. The selected candidate will be expected to actively contribute to proposal preparations for further funding and participate in the authoring of related publications.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the SEIT lab focuses its research on Software Engineering and Internet Technologies. The position demands a highly motivated individual capable of thriving in a multi-disciplinary research environment. Applicants are required to have a degree in Computer Science and expertise in web development, with knowledge in mobile development, IoT, or cloud computing considered advantageous. Familiarity with the technical tasks and team collaboration necessary for EU-funded projects is also required, along with a strong command of the English language. An MSc or PhD in computing will be considered a plus.
The successful candidate will engage in software development and engineering tasks for projects involving the SEIT Lab and will be encouraged to pursue further studies if they do not already hold a relevant degree. The employment terms include a one-year contract, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability, with a monthly gross salary ranging from £1550 to £2200, depending on qualifications. The position excludes a 13th Salary bonus.
