Nicosia: Two helicopters from Egypt are on their way to Cyprus to assist in the fight against wildfires that have been raging since Wednesday afternoon in the mountainous region of Limassol.
According to Cyprus News Agency, sources from the Ministry of Energy reported that Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi, who is currently visiting Cyprus, has been informed about the deployment. He is accompanied by Cypriot Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou. The helicopters departed from Port Said, Egypt, and are heading to Cyprus.
The Ministry of Energy has indicated that the helicopters are expected to arrive in Cyprus in approximately two hours.
