Limassol: The estimated burnt area in Limassol district is approximately 124 square kilometres, according to a first rapid assessment of the catastrophic wildfire, carried out by the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence of the Cyprus University of Technology.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the estimation was based on low-resolution satellite imagery from Sentinel-3, acquired on 24 July 2025 at 07:30 (UTC). The spatial resolution of the image is 300 metres, and the estimated burned area is approximately 120 square kilometres.
This is a preliminary assessment, Eratosthenes Centre notes. An updated analysis using higher-resolution satellite data is expected in the coming days.
