Turkish, Uzbek presidents meet in Hungary for talks

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday met his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the Hungary’s capital Budapest. Erdogan and Mirziyoyev discussed Trkiye-Uzbekistan relations as well as regional and global developments at the closed-door meeting, where Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and Erdogan’s chief advisers Akif Cagatay Kilic and Zafer Cubukcu were also present. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban invited the presidents to Budapest to attend Hungary’s founding day celebrations. Later on Sunday, Erdogan will also attend the World Athletics Championships. Trkiye became the first country to recognize Uzbekistan in 1991, and diplomatic relations were established in 1992. Ankara attaches great importance to the improvement of cooperation with Uzbekistan in all fields and wishes to further develop its relations.
