Turkish stock exchange rebounds to 9,000+ points level


ISTANBUL: The Turkish benchmark stock index opened the midweek at 9,014.87 points, gaining 0.23% or 20.87 points versus the previous close.

After hitting record levels over a series of closing sessions, the BIST 100 index closed Tuesday by falling 1.97% to 8,994.00 points with a daily transaction volume of 151 billion liras ($4.91 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 30.7425 as of 10.20 a.m. local time (0720GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 32.9550, while the GBP/TRY rate was 38.6620.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,004.60, and the barrel price of Brent oil was around $82.80.
