New York:Arranging a joint meeting between the President of Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriot leader, and the UN Secretary-General was not possible. The Turkish Cypriot leader, Turfan Erhurman, did not consent to such a meeting, despite the Secretary-General's wish to hold one.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the reluctance from the Turkish Cypriot leader was a decisive factor in the inability to organize the meeting.

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is returning to Cyprus from New York as originally planned.
