Transport Minister Vafeades Prepares for Cyprus EU Presidency in Brussels

Brussels: Cyprus Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeades will engage in a series of meetings in Brussels on Thursday. These discussions, held on the sidelines of the EU Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (TTE-Transport), are aimed at addressing issues pertinent to the Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Vafeades is set to present the work programme for the upcoming Cypriot Presidency, focusing on land, intermodal, and air transport. The minister will officially assume the Presidency of the Council from the Danish Minister of Transport. On Friday, he is scheduled to address the Transport Community Ministerial Council, an event organized by the Danish Presidency with participation from EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas.

In addition to these engagements, Vafeades will meet with significant stakeholders in the transport sector, including the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) and the European Sea Ports Organisation. Accompanying him are the Ministry’s Director General, Marina Ioannou Hassapi, and other senior officials.
