Larnaca: The Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works, Alexis Vafeades, has emphasized the potential for development at the old Larnaca Airport, expressing the government’s intention to prevent the site from remaining unused for an extended period.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Minister visited the old Larnaca Airport on Friday, accompanied by Nakis Antoniou, President of the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Charalambos Andreou, Director of EBE. The visit aimed to assess the condition of the building and explore potential development opportunities.
Vafeades stated that the purpose of the visit was to evaluate the prospects for investment and development at the site. He mentioned the government’s interest in determining the next steps and necessary actions in collaboration with Hermes to advance the area’s development.
When asked about potential investors, Vafeades noted that while there have been expressions of interest, there is currently no concrete investment plan. He emphasized the importance of initiating activity at the site to capitalize on the opportunity it presents.
Nakis Antoniou remarked on the significant value of the old airport site, highlighting the potential benefits for Larnaca and Cyprus through its development.
