Whenever the Russians discuss their historical and contemporary relations with Türkiye, the suggestion of keeping your friends close and enemies even closer almost invariably makes its way into the discussion. Moscow and Ankara have indeed been quite sophisticated in managing both their grievances and their mutual interests. Can this approach make the world, if not a better place, then at least a safer place?
