Thunderstorms to Hit Cyprus for Third Consecutive Day on Sunday

Nicosia: Strong thunderstorms are expected to affect Cyprus for the third day in a row on Sunday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a new Yellow Warning for isolated heavy thunderstorms, which are predicted to impact parts of the island on Saturday.

The alert will be in effect between 11:00 to 17:00 local time, indicating that the storms will mainly target the mountainous regions and the interior areas of Cyprus. These weather events are likely to bring significant variability in surface wind direction and potential strengthening of winds.

The forecast also suggests the possibility of hail during the thunderstorms, with rainfall rates potentially exceeding 35 millimetres per hour. Residents and visitors are advised to stay updated with weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during these severe weather conditions.
