Targeting Residential Areas “Utterly Unacceptable” Says Cyprus on Russian Strike on Sloviansk

Cyprus: Cyprus condemned Russian strike on Sloviansk, which killed civilians and damaged the Honorary Consulate of Latvia. "Targeting residential areas is utterly unacceptable. Our condolences to the victims' families. We stand in solidarity with Ukraine and with Latvia," Foreign Ministry posted on X Friday evening.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the statement reflects Cyprus' strong stance against the recent actions by Russia that resulted in significant civilian casualties and damage to diplomatic facilities. The attack on Sloviansk has drawn international criticism and concern over the growing impact on civilian populations in the conflict zones.

The Foreign Ministry's message emphasized the importance of protecting civilians in conflict areas and highlighted the need for international efforts to prevent further escalation. The condemnation by Cyprus aligns with calls from other nations urging restraint and a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
