Talks on GSI ongoing with developments expected in the next days

Negotiations between Greece and Cyprus regarding the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) are ongoing, as both countries seek to finalise the terms of the electricity connection project, with developments expected in the next days.

As Cyprus News Agency has learnt, due to the ongoing discussions, Cyprus’ Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, George Papanastasiou, has cancelled his planned trip to the United States for the Gastech exhibition in Houston, which will take place on September 17 – 20.

Sources have told the Agency that developments are expected in the next days, and that the meeting between President Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on September 19 in Athens, who will discuss this issue, will be a key milestone.

The meeting was announced by President Christodoulides himself, who, in statements he made on Thursday, spoke of progress in the discussions.
