Strong Winds and Thunderstorms Expected in Cyprus Sea Area

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, highlighting the expectation of strong weather conditions. The forecast, which covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards, predicts mainly cloudy weather accompanied by isolated showers and thunderstorms.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1009 hPa. The area is currently under the influence of low pressure, leading to a warning for strong and locally near gale northwesterly to northeasterly winds. These winds are anticipated to reach a force of 6, and locally up to 7 Beaufort, affecting the northern coastal regions and parts of the west. The sea state is expected to be moderate to rough, with visibility ranging from good to moderate, deteriorating to poor during showers.

The forecast period is set from 1200 on February 5, 2025, until 1200 on February 6, 2025, with a specific warning valid from 2000 local time on February 5 until 0600 local time on February 6. The sea surface temperature is reported to be 19°C.
