Nicosia: The importance of further strengthening Cyprus-China relations and cooperation, as well as the role of the media in bringing the two peoples closer, was highlighted by the new Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cyprus, Yang Yundong, during his visit to the offices of the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Chinese Ambassador met with the Chairman of CNA's Board of Directors, Andreas Frangos, and the Director, Dinos Phinikarides. Discussions focused on prospects for future cooperation and the role of the Agency in strengthening ties between the two peoples. Yang described his visit to CNA as 'a great pleasure' and said he had an 'in-depth discussion' on future cooperation.

Yang emphasized China's importance concerning Cyprus, noting the high level of political trust between the two countries. He expressed China's appreciation for Cyprus's commitment to the One-China policy and reiterated Beijing's support for a just resolution to the Cyprus problem. The Ambassador remarked on the warm hospitality he received from the Cypriot people and expressed confidence in enhancing the partnership.

Yang acknowledged CNA's significant role in connecting the two peoples and noted its cooperation with China's Xinhua News Agency. He expressed hope that these efforts would bring the people of China and Cyprus closer together.

Chairman Frangos welcomed the Chinese Ambassador, briefed him on CNA's role in the media landscape, and reiterated the Agency's commitment to the One-China policy. He emphasized the importance of providing accurate news and expressed willingness to foster closer ties and mutual learning through various initiatives. Frangos thanked the Ambassador for his visit and emphasized CNA's openness to developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
